Natural gas and LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) has been used in New Zealand for many years for water heating, cooking and heating spaces like homes and offices.
Although an efficient source of energy, gas poses risks of fire or explosion, and if there is a problem with an appliance, lethal carbon monoxide can be produced as a buy product of burning.
This is why you need experienced, qualified gasfitters to care out any installation or servicing of gas appliances.
We use Kembla Pex gas pipe for our internal work, and when temperature or UV is an issue we use HH Copper pipe. If we are running a gas main across your car-park then we would use Galvanised Iron or Stainless Steel pipe. We believe these products are the best and most cost effective.
Should you move to natural gas or bottled LPG?
If you are close to a natural gas main then it could be a good idea to choose natural gas. But a gas main can be expensive once it gets over 20m, so you could choose to use LPG, storing the bottles as close to your gas fittings as possible. There is a rental cost on the bottles which is similar to the line charge on natural gas.
It is highly advisable that having made a decision on either natural gas or LPG then you use only that one kind.
